Home-made Baked Beans
You will need:
- 420g can of cannellini beans (drained and rinsed)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp liquid smoke
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 3 tbsp tomato sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- pinch of black pepper
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp corn flour
- 4 tsp water
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- bread, as desired (to serve)
method:
1. In a small bowl, combine corn flour and water and set aside
2. In a medium-sized pot over medium-high heat, heat cannellini beans with olive oil, lemon juice, liquid smoke, maple syrup, tomato sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper and salt. mix and heat well.
3. Add the corn flour/water mixture, heat for a further 2 mins and then remove from the heat.
4. Serve hot on toasted sourdough, or your bread of choice.
